Richard Jenkins

Richard Jenkins (58) is a “Politics” graduate from Edinburgh University (MA Hons). He served for five years with the Queen’s Own Highlanders, (’74 – ’78) before returning to Orkney, to marry and set up a Hill Sheep Farm at Savisgarth. He and his wife Mardi have four children. He has stood three times for Parliament, as a Conservative, in Orkney & Shetland (1987); Caithness, Sutherland & Easter Ross (1999, Scottish Parliament Election); & Inverness East, Nairn & Lochaber (2001). He served on Orkney Health Board from 2001 – 2005, chairing Health & Safety and Audit Committees. He is currently CEO of North Wind Associates, a Multi-disciplinary consultancy to the Independent and Community sectors in the North of Scotland, and Chairman of Hammars Hill Energy Ltd. Richard and Mardi are the Landowners of the Hammars Hill Site, and have led the project through the planning phase, from its inception at the end of 2005 to the achievement of planning consent in January 2009.
